End: Saturday, Mar 07 2020 at 12:30 PM

Location: Calvary Church, 820 PA-113, Souderton, PA 18964

Get ready to treat for shock, because the District First Aid meet is back at a new location: Calvary Church in Souderton (820 PA-113, Souderton, PA 18964). This venue is much less likely to cancel for snow.

The event will take place in the gymnasium. So, you need to use the 2nd entrance when going north on Route 113. This entrance will take you right around to the gym.

And, this year there's no bleachers. So, if you would like to spectate, the best way is to volunteer as a judge!

This is a district event just like the Klondike. And this year, there is a 3 part patch. So, make sure to sign up to get the second piece.

Scoutmaster's Corner

Camping at Musser, Scouting for Food, Wreath pickup, and Cub Scout visits, oh my! It's the holiday season with Troop 152 and things are as exciting as ever.

Starting off the month, we camped in beautiful spot east of the river in Heart. Our small group of campers braved the cold to have huge fires and delicious food. If you weren't there, you seriously missed out on a great trip! But there's more tent-partner cooking coming in 2020, so you'll get another chance.

Scouting for Food dropoff was a bit short of volunteers again this year. A big thank you to Justin and Aedan for organizing extra groups to go out on Sunday.

However despite the rough start, we had a great showing on pickup day. And most importantly, we had a great haul for Sheperd's Shelf in Harleysville: 3200+ items! So, thank you again to everyone for making the food drive a success.

Later in the month, we also finished the wreath sale and picked up our orders. Hopefully everyone has happy customers who will be ordering again next year. Here too, thank you all for making the fundraiser a success.

And even with all that going on, we've had some pretty great meeting activities. We're bringing back some old traditions like firestarters, blind-folded tent races, patrol relays. And we're spicing it up with unique games thanks to Shane. So, give a big round of applause to Justin for keeping it lively.

Is there anything you've always wanted to do at a meeting? Let me or Justin know. We're always on the hunt for another great activity.

Scoutmaster's Corner

October has been an exciting month! We were blessed to have good weather at both the Cub-O-Ree and the Knoebels camping trip. And speaking of Cub-O-Ree, we had another year with a great gateway and a fun activity for the Cub Scouts. Thank you to everyone who came out to make sure the Cub Scouts have a good time. Many hands make light work.

Knoebels was also a great trip. The wooden coasters were a thrill. Many of the scouts brought their Hammocks, and we settled once and for all how to attach the tent elastic to the wishbone!

This tent wishbone is a perfect example of what my Scoutmaster's Minutes this month have focused on: history and passing down knowledge. The troop has a tremendous amount of collective experience. But, passing down this knowledge is something I think we have to work on.

So, I'll take this as another chance to say that I am starting a wiki on our website to document these things. If there is something you know about scout skills or how the Troop does something, send me an email with a some of that wisdom. I've already started articles on: the 3-pot cleaning system, our monster boxes, and the trailer. So, I challenge each scout and leader to think of one thing that we do well and write about it! Even if it's only a couple of sentences, we can start small and before too long, we'll have a formidable compendium of Troop 152 know-how.

November Trip: Delmont

At our November trip we'll have a relaxing weekend at Delmont. We will return Saturday morning to distribute Scouting for Food bags, but spend the rest of the morning and all afternoon exploring Delmont.
